INIA’s Deputy Director Rosette Farrugia-Bonello and Senior Research Officer Christian Vella, attended the ‘Ministerial Conference on Demographic Resilience: Shaping Europe’s Demographic Future’, organized by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and the Government of Bulgaria, in cooperation with Population Europe. The conference, which was held in Sofia, Bulgaria in a hybrid between 1-2 December, discussed the demographic changes countries in Europe and Central Asia are experiencing and how best to respond to them. This was the first time that countries from across Europe and Central Asia came together at a ministerial-level under the auspices of the United Nations to discuss the implications of, and responses to, population decrease and demographic change more broadly. The Conference, brought together representatives of governments, civil society, the private sector, academia and the international community, as well as members of parliaments and other stakeholders.
