Event Description

INIA in collaboration with the International Longevity Centre-India (ILC-I), which is INIA’s Satellite Centre for the SAARC region, organised a series of four webinars on “The Impact of Covid-19 on Ageing in the SAARC Countries:The Path Ahead”. These sessions were delivered by experts from the SAARC region and held on the 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th March 2021. The webinar was opened by Mr. Jayant Umranikar, Charman of ILC-I. Presentations from four countries, namely Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Sri Lanka,  addressed the challenges that each country is facing, what is being done and what are the hurdles to overcome. The experts invited were Ms. Ferdous Ara Begum from Bangladesh,  Dr. Lochana Shrestha from Nepal, Dr. Shiromi Maduwage from Sri Lanka and  Prof. Siva Raju from India. Moreover, the first session of the webinar was presented by Rosette Farrugia-Bonello, INIA’s Deputy Director, whereby she spoke on ‘The Global Impact of COVDI-19 on older persons’.
